Coral reefs are vital ecosystems not only to the marine animals that inhabit them, but to other organisms including humans. The importance of coral reefs as well as their decline worldwide is well documented, with human activities cited as the major causes of decline.The purpose of this research study is to create and evaluate a web-based instructional module on Hawaii’s coral reef ecology and conservation. Information regarding coral reef ecology and conservation is widely available to the general public. The goals of this research are to engage the audience in learning about coral reef ecology and conservation and to introduce the audience to an alternative mode of learning about coral reefs.
