With the proliferation of mobile devices like smartphones, notebooks, and tablets in the enterprise, European workforces are becoming increasingly distributed and mobile. Employees desire rich, connected experiences regardless of physical location and device type. Until recently, it was an uphill battle for IT managers to provide access to their anytime, anywhere workforce while preserving their mobility investments. In April2012, Qualcomm commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the cost savings, productivity gains, time savings, and cost avoidances of embedded wireless wide-area network (WWAN)modules versus both Wi-Fi and external WWAN cards in the European market.
In conducting an online survey with 150 IT and telecom decision-makers at European companies with 1,000 or more employees, Forrester found that these companies are investing heavily in embedded WWAN modules across multiple user segments to enhance customer service, drive revenue expansion, and improve employee satisfaction.
