This report presents the findings from an analysis of the urban samples of the 1990, 1999, 2003 and 2008 Nigeria Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). The report is part of the baseline information needed for the Nigeria Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI), which was designed to achieve a 20 percentage point increase in modern contraceptive prevalence rate in selected urban areas during its five-year period of implementation.
