Norad and Sida carried out a joint gender review of the Norwegian and Swedish Embassies in February 2011. The review covered the Embassies‘ programme portfolios, internal organization of gender work, results–based management, and policy dialogue in Afghanistan. The purpose of this gender review is to build capacity and strengthen the embassies’ efforts to plan, implement, monitor and report on how women’s rights and gender equality is promoted in programmes and in the policy dialogue through dialogue and discussion with Embassy staff and partners. The intention behind a joint Sida and Norad review was also to look into opportunities for strengthening developing further the Nordic cooperation in promoting women’s rights and gender equality in Afghanistan.
