This study considers three major topics – mega sport events, trafficking and sex work reviewing each from within a global, national and local perspective. The intent of the study is to develop a clear understanding of the relationship of sex work and trafficking in persons for sexual exploitation to mega sport events while also considering issues related to sex worker and public safety. It also presents recommendations that are directed primarily to support the prevention of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and to better enable the early detection of and intervention against trafficking.
