John Oliver Explains U.S. UNESCO Policy

The Daily Show, perhaps America's best TV comedy show, on March 15, 2012 departed from its normal format to devote half the program to a satire of U.S. policy toward UNESCO. Twenty years ago, the U.S. Congress added a provision to the law requiring that the United States withhold funding from any agency of the United Nations system that admitted UNESCO to membership. When in 2011, UNESCO did so, the U.S. Government immediately cut off funding. John Oliver in these videos explores the impact of the decisions and the foolishness of defenders of the unwillingness of some members of Congress to revise the law. Sorry for the commercials.
