
Malnutrition is a huge issue within our hospitals and communities, effecting millions of people and costing billions of pounds to treat. This is the largest survey of its kind carried out in the UK on the issue of malnutrition in the community and hospital setting. The Department of Health must make nutritional screening across all health and social care settings mandatory and healthcare professionals must be educated and trained to use a nutritional guide to the social risk factors associated with malnutrition and nutritional screening questions to ask on these factors .
