A person in a wheelchair cannot go directly to Seah Street. There is a traffic crossing from Bras Basah to Seah Street but a staircase obstructs any movement by wheelchair.
The Land Transport Authority could go the extra mile by informing the relevant building owner to look into this matter.
I also urge the traffic authorities to make it illegal for motorists to turn when the green man is blinking. This is in the interests of public safety.
While motorists are supposed to wait for pedestrians to cross safely, they often begin turning at high speed as the pedestrians begin to cross the road. This is dangerous for pedestrians who are hearing-impaired.

Singapore has world-class businesses, finance and manufacturing jobs but are the disabled able to work and contribute productively to the economy with dignity?
