New Conceptual Framework Linking Family Planning and Human Rights

EngenderHealth and the Futures Group are pleased to announce their joint publication of a new framework, Voluntary Family Planning Programs that Respect, Protect, and Fulfill Human Rights: A Conceptual Framework, which presents a practical approach for voluntary family planning programs to respect, protect, and fulfill human rights as they set out to improve health and achieve ambitious family planning goals. The framework is available at http://futuresgroup.com/files/documents/Voluntary_Rights-Based_FP_Conceptual_Framework_Paper_8_12_13_FINAL.pdf

This comprehensive framework brings together human rights laws and principles with family planning quality of care frameworks to assist policymakers, program managers, donors, and civil society with program design, implementation, and monitoring, and evaluation. This is the first framework to operationalize rights principles and approaches within family planning programming.

A four-page summary brief of the framework is available at http://futuresgroup.com/files/documents/Voluntary_Rights-Based_FP_Conceptual_Framework_Summary_Brief_8_12_13_FINAL_(2).pdf. We hope that you will share this report with your colleagues far and wide.
