Open science, open access and open source software at Open Medicine

Is access to the final polished version of research enough? Could we do more to encourage the collaborative reuse and reanalysis of existing data, or the verification of analyses? Could we move from open access to open science?

As the name seems to imply, there is no strict definition of open science, but it is inextricably linked to the parallel movements of open access publication and open source software. Open Medicine itself is using open source software to underpin its journal management, blog, and electronic publishing platform to exemplify what is technically feasible for all journals (rather than just those with big budgets) in scholarly publishing.
