<p class="MsoNoSpacing"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">In order to gradually progress towards the achievement of standards, from preschool to high school level, this publication introduces profiles of expected performance standards for students according to grade level.  The standards are accompanied by a series of didactic material, meant encourage students’ appropriate of digital technologies as tools for the development of reasoning, collaborative, and participative skills, as well as the use of knowledge to create, establish, and solve problems, all the while behaving in a responsible and safe manner within the contexts mediated by digital technologies.<o:p></o:p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">Performance standards for students learning with the aid of digital technologies establish what the Costa Rican educational system expects students to know and be capable of doing with regards to digital technologies and as result of the educational offer.<o:p></o:p>

<p class="MsoNoSpacing"> <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif";">The creation of these performance standards is the result of the joint work of Costa Rica`s Ministry of Public Education and the Omar Dengo Foundation, with the financial support of the Costa Rica – United States of America Foundation for Cooperation.<o:p></o:p>
