Rwanda, September - December 2008. Eco Ventures International is participating in an initial assessment for the Rwanda Youth Project to determine a) the structure and characteristics of targeted youth beneficiaries; b) labor market demand and trends; and c) review of existing policies and institutional capacity of public and private youth-serving organizations in Rwanda to provide education, training, and support services to youth. The Rwanda Youth Project is a five-year, $7.5 million activity directly targeting 2,500 out-of-school youth per year, aged 15-24, in urban areas. This activity is a cross-sectoral collaboration within USAID/Rwanda, involving input from all four sectors: Education (Basic Education); Health (PEPFAR); Democracy and Governance; and Economic Growth. For the initial assessment, EVI is responsible for investigating the labor market demand as well as providing initial institutional capacity assessments. EVI is researching what industries in Rwanda have greatest growth potential, growing and emerging industry sectors, and identifying key challenges for youth entry into formal and informal markets.
