This issue focuses on safe hospitals. It calls on the Ministers of Health of the Americas who signed the Plan of Action on Safe Hospitals for having safer health facilities by 2015, proposing to revisit some issues relevant to this topic, and to take action now to ensure success.

It contains: (i) safe hospitals: a shared responsibility, a goal we can reach; (ii) hospitals are patients too; (iii) smart health care facilities; (iv) accelerated recovery for hospitals: the experience of Chile; (v) earthquake plan for Mexico: an example to follow; (vi) the initiative in other sectors: safe schools; (vii) the safe hospitals initiative in the world; and (viii) what's new at CRID.
