In July 2009, 194 people from around the world came together to share and discuss research on sexual violence. The Sexual Violence Research Initiative, hosts of the SVRI Forum 2009, in partnership with the Global Forum for Health Research; Oxfam Novib; Medical Research Council, South Africa; U.N. Action (against sexual violence in conflict); and partners, including Path, Population Council and many others, through this event, sought to promote research on sexual violence, particularly in developing countries; highlight innovative work in the field; and, encourage sharing and networking in what is still a relatively young field of knowledge and knowledge building.
