Reports of $1 trillion dollars worth of minerals in Afghanistan are based on largely older information. Questions about the environmental concerns and first and foremost the logistical difficulties and infrastructure requirements are not fully acknowledged. However more importantly it is worrisome that the lure of mineral riches might be used as a justification for an unjustifiable war and its tremendous human and material costs.
