Staying alive and well: child health and disaster risk reduction

This paper provides guidance to encourage policymakers and health professionals to integrate disaster risk reduction into their health policies and programs in order to safeguard children. It asserts that there is a vital need for all efforts to consider people with specific vulnerabilities, primarily children because they are particularly vulnerable to disasters. Finally, it encourages policymakers and health professionals to help build the resilience of health systems at national, local and community levels, allowing us to safeguard children’s lives before disaster strikes.
