The 2010 Human Development Report includes Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco among the ten most improved countries in the last 40 years in terms of the Human Development Index (which includes health and education as well as economic improvement). While conventional wisdom stresses the East Asian miracle, the authors draw attention to these countries which have progresses less economically that China but more in terms of health and education.
