According the report the WFPF contribution to improved water governance through reforms and capacity development .The 2008 approved applications are targeted towards improving the policy and regulatory environment and building capacity of major sector organizations, such as water utilities/service providers and river basin organizations, including national and local government agencies involved in planning, financing, and implementing water projects. Enhanced regional cooperation is also expected from WFPF support to the networks of water utilities in the region and from the formation of regional water knowledge hubs of which 12 have been confirmed by end 2008, covering the following areas: (i) urban water management, (ii) disaster risk reduction and flood management, (iii) water and climate change adaptation in Southeast Asia, (iv) river basin organizations and management etc
