On March 25, 2009, USAID/AgVANTAGE, in partnership with the office of Shida Kartli Region governor, and local administra-tive bodies distributed fruit trees of various species to the resi-dents of villages affected by the Georgian-Russian conflict of August 2008.Fruit growing has been a major source of income for many farmers in Shida Kartli for years.
